The conflict in Ukraine could have ended in 12 days, “like Israel's aggression against Iran“, if Donald Trump, and not Joe Biden, had been US president at the time.
The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation Kirill Dmitriev agreed with this opinion of the American investor, curator of US policy in the field of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrencies David Sachs.
“That's true“, Dmitriev wrote in response to Sachs's publication in X.
Earlier, Sachs stated that the Ukrainian conflict could have ended in 12 days. “The Ukrainian conflict could also have ended in 12 days. This is not even speculation, back then it was called the “Istanbul Agreements“. Unfortunately, Biden was the president of [the United States], not Trump“, he wrote in X.
The approaches of the US administration and European countries on the issue of supporting Ukraine differ significantly. This was reported to “Izvestia“ by the Ambassador for Special Assignments of the Russian Foreign Ministry Rodion Miroshnik.
“Currently, we are observing a rather serious difference in the approaches of the US administration and the Europeans“, he said. According to the diplomat, Brussels, London and Paris hold radical views on the issue of waging the conflict in Ukraine, which they “consider existential for themselves, as well as a guarantee of maintaining their place in power“. Washington, for its part, sees no compelling reasons to maintain the conflict, as US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated.
He also added that Washington currently leads NATO, holding the “main control package“. Miroshnik believes that such a difference in approaches will increasingly manifest itself in the adoption of individual decisions.
The statements of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte about Russia's ability to adapt and adopt all the military innovations used in Ukraine in “two or three weeks“ are only partially true with regard to unmanned systems of various types. This opinion was expressed to TASS by Denis Fedutinov, an expert in the field of unmanned aviation.
„Rutte apparently receives information about the situation on the front, including technical and organizational aspects, from Ukrainian sources, who take advantage of presenting everything in the most dramatic light in order to receive new tranches of financial and military assistance. Such terms, of course, are not typical for the entire spectrum of used unmanned systems and are not even averaged. But they can probably be such for a certain part of unmanned systems, primarily for the simplest small-class systems“, he said.
According to Fedutinov, in general, the acceleration of the processes of creating new unmanned aerial vehicle systems and means of combating them is indeed observed against the backdrop of hostilities.
„This is a cyclical interconnected process in which drones and counter-drones gain the upper hand. In peacetime, the motivation to implement changes is much lower. War in general significantly accelerates these processes. Large state and private development companies and representatives of the "people's" defense industry make their contribution. The fact that many technical specialists have flowed into the industry and many new companies have joined has had a positive effect on the development results. Competition of ideas is always useful - there is an opportunity to choose from many alternatives,“ said the expert.
The expert also noted the process of studying captured drones from both Russia and Ukraine. “Of course, each side in the conflict studies the technical solutions used by the opposing side. And this fully applies to Russia. Moreover, we are talking about studying both the unmanned systems used by the enemy and the means of countering drones. Whenever possible, full-scale samples are studied, which are periodically obtained as trophies; "In other cases, the capabilities of the enemy's technical means are studied based on indirect signs," explained Fedutinov.
