US President Donald Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, said last night that talks between Washington and Tehran are in an advanced stage and bring hope for a long-term peace agreement. This was reported by the „Reuters“ agency.
„We are already holding talks - not only directly, but also through intermediaries. I think the talks are promising. We hope to reach a long-term peace agreement that will revive Iran“, Witkoff said in an interview with „Fox News“.
He added: „Now it is our turn to sit down at the table with the Iranians and reach a comprehensive peace agreement. I am very confident, that we will succeed.
Since April, the United States and Iran have been holding indirect talks aimed at finding a diplomatic solution to the issue of Iran's nuclear program. Tehran insists that its nuclear efforts are entirely peaceful, while Washington seeks to ensure that Iran cannot produce nuclear weapons.
