The European Parliament will open its representation in Chisinau and will strengthen cooperation with the Moldovan parliament. This was announced by the Vice-President of the European Parliament Nicolae Stefanuca, quoted by the Moldovan agency MOLDPRES, BTA reports.

According to him, the EP representation in Chisinau is expected to be opened in September next year, and its head is currently being selected.

„We will sign a new memorandum, which includes joint initiatives to strengthen the Moldovan parliament. We are also opening a representation in Chisinau to deepen our partnership“, said Stefanutsa.

He stressed that the goal is for Moldova to join the European Union by 2030, but this requires coordinated efforts from all institutions. In this context, he defined the upcoming parliamentary elections in the fall of 2026 as crucial, expressing concern about hybrid threats and disinformation.

“It is important that Moldovan citizens have reliable information and be able to make informed choices. We will work to protect the democratic process from fake news and external interference“, he added.

Stefanutsa noted that European integration must be felt by people in reality - through better roads, modern infrastructure and more economic opportunities. The EU funds earmarked for the pre-accession period will support this modernization and boost investor confidence.

“When the accession process becomes concrete with clear deadlines and commitments, it will send a clear signal to business and accelerate economic growth“, he said.

“The EU is with you. Moldova is a European country and deserves to be part of our area of prosperity and security. I dream of seeing it in the European Union and I want to be part of this process“, added Ștefanuca.

During his visit to Chisinau, he met with Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Parliament Speaker Igor Grossu.
