Russian President Vladimir Putin will not make concessions on his military goals unless he is forced to do so by major victories for Ukraine on the front. This opinion was expressed in a recent report by analysts from the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Focus writes.

Analysts noted that the Kremlin deliberately continues to instill the idea of confrontation with the West in order to secure public support for the war against Ukraine and future Russian aggression against NATO.

The institute notes that the Russian government has spent significant resources building domestic support for the war and this has been successful, as Russian state and independent polls show that the majority of Russian citizens support the war until the Kremlin's declared military goals - "denazification" - are achieved. and demilitarization of Ukraine.

Analysts noted that such circumstances will now make it much harder for Putin to present any peace agreement that does not include previously stated goals as a victory to his domestic audience.

“Putin is unlikely to make any concessions on his military goals unless forced to do so by significant Ukrainian victories on the battlefield, because any negotiated end to the war that does not include achieving all of Putin's goals would call into question the wisdom of Russia's military campaign in Ukraine,“ analysts said.

Negotiations to end the war in Ukraine

Trump issued a tougher ultimatum to Putin yesterday, reducing the deadline for concluding a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine to 10-12 days instead of 50. The Kremlin, however, reacted with dissatisfaction with the deadline.

''Focus'' recalls that on July 14, Trump called on the Kremlin to reach a peace agreement within 50 days, otherwise the US will impose 100% tariffs on the country and "secondary" tariffs against all countries that continue to trade with Russia.
