Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the work of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Combating Corruption after the agencies presented their report exposing several officials who took bribes, BNR reported.
"There can only be zero tolerance for corruption, clear teamwork in exposing it and ultimately a fair verdict. "It is important that anti-corruption institutions act independently, and the law adopted on Thursday guarantees them all the tools necessary to truly fight corruption," Zelensky wrote in a post on the social media platform "X".
Earlier this week, the Ukrainian parliament passed legislation to preserve two anti-corruption agencies, repealing a previous bill that sparked mass protests across the country for undermining the agencies' independence by placing them under the leadership of the Prosecutor General, appointed by Zelensky.
