"There is a certain fatigue among the Russians". The summer offensive of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine has failed, BILD writes in its Russian-language Telegram channel.

"The fourth summer of the war has not brought any successes to the Russian army. Most of the goals that Moscow set for the campaign from April to August 2025 remained unfulfilled, believes the military analyst of the German media Julian Röpke.

In the Donetsk region, Russian troops tried unsuccessfully to capture Pokrovsk. Despite a breakthrough in the city center in August, three weeks later all Russian units were destroyed or captured. On the northern borders, Vladimir Putin's plans to create a "security belt" in the Chernihiv, Sumy and Kharkiv regions also failed: less than 70 kilometers of territory along the border remained under Russian control.

To the south, in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, the front remained stable and the Kremlin was forced to effectively abandon its offensive plans. At the same time, Ukraine intensified drone strikes on Russian oil refineries - up to 1,200 kilometers deep into Russian territory. According to experts, since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has disabled 17% of the capacity of Russian oil refineries, which led to a rise in prices and a fuel shortage in the country.

In total, Russia seized only 1,800 square kilometers - about 0.3% of Ukrainian territory - during the summer. President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ready to discuss a ceasefire, but not surrender, as Moscow demands.

“First of all, the reorganization of the Ukrainian army is bringing order to the ranks. Among the Russians, on the contrary, there is a certain fatigue. However, in winter, when the ground freezes and the leaves fall from the trees, which will reduce protection from drones, the Russians may try to go on the offensive again,“ military expert Gustav Gressel noted to the German media.
