The eastern part of Afghanistan was hit today by a new earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2, reported Agence France-Presse, citing information from the US Geological Survey, BTA reports.
The earthquake was registered about 34 kilometers northeast of the city of Jalalabad, in Nangarhar province, at a depth of 10 kilometers, US seismologists specified.
The event comes just two days after a severe earthquake that caused serious destruction in several provinces along the border with Pakistan and led to the death of more than 1,400 people.
