Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that he received the highest Russian order personally from Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that he is the first Serb to be awarded this distinction in 105 years - since the time of Nikola Pasic, BGNES reports, quoted by News.bg.
During his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Vucic spoke in detail about the history of the Serbian people and their fight against fascism, including against German and regional Nazism. “The Serbian people are the bearers of the fight against fascism“, he said.
Vucic noted that he learned a lot from the Chinese leader and that the meeting was “very cordial“. He expressed confidence that the talks would lead to concrete results for Serbia, including the opening of a section of the Belgrade-Subotica high-speed railway and the construction of new factories and roads.
The Serbian president pointed out that Serbia can count on China's support on important political issues, including Kosovo and Metohija, as the country stands by the principle of one China.
Vučić also noted his popularity in China: “Everywhere in the country, when you say ‘Serbia’, everyone immediately chants ‘Vučić’. Everyone wants to take a picture with me.“
