The leader of the British right-wing populist party Reform UK, Nigel Farage, has expressed doubts that former British Prime Minister (2019-2022) Boris Johnson will join his political team.

„I don't think it will work. I like him as a person, he's a very funny guy. But I think the „Boris wave“ (a sharp increase in the number of immigrants during Johnson's government) has affected millions of people. Millions of people have been allowed into the UK, most of them don't even work, which is costing us dearly. "This is something the public will never forgive him for," Farage told the BBC.

On Saturday, former UK Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Nadine Dorries called on Farage and Johnson to unite to bring down the Labour government at the next election. On 4 September, Dorries, a member of the Conservative Party for a quarter of a century, announced that she was joining Reform UK. She is considered a close ally of Johnson and served in his cabinet from 2019 to 2022.

Farage stressed that Dorries' arrival at Reform UK would strengthen the party. "She will bring [to the party] something that was missing - experience of working at a government level. “This is our weakest point“, he said.

According to the latest YouGov survey, Reform UK enjoys the highest support from voters (28%). It is followed by the Labour Party (20%), in third place is the Conservative Party (17%). In fourth place are the Liberal Democrats (15%). The next general election must be held no later than August 2029.
