At Poland's request, the UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting over Russia's violation of Polish airspace, the Polish Foreign Ministry announced, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
The measure comes after an unprecedented night operation in which Poland, with the support of its NATO allies, shot down Russian drones that entered its airspace.
This is the first case in which a NATO member state directly destroyed Russian military assets over its own territory since the start of the war in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Reuters notes.
