Xiaomi, the famous Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has entered the electric vehicle market with its debut offering - the SU7. Featuring an attractive Chris Bangle-approved design, impressive Porsche-comparable performance, and outstanding mileage, this mid-size sedan sets a new standard with a starting price of 215,900 yuan (approximately US$29,900).

Positioned as an alternative to the Tesla Model 3, the SU7 outperforms its competitor with a minimum range of 435 miles (700 km) in China, surpassing the Model 3's 377 miles (606 km). Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun proudly announced, that their model outperformed the Model 3 in 90% of benchmark tests, making it a promising contender in the electric vehicle market.

The SU7 is available in three variants to suit different driving preferences and needs. The entry-level model, the Standard RWD version, features a 400V architecture, a 73.6 kWh battery and a 295 hp electric motor. It offers a range of 700 km (435 miles) and fast charging capability, making it a practical choice for everyday travel.

The SU7 Pro retains similar specifications but offers a larger 94.3kWh battery which increases range to an impressive 830km on the CLTC cycle. It is priced at 245,900 yuan (34,000 USD) and provides improved performance and extended mileage for discerning buyers.

At the top of the range, the SU7 Max features an 800V architecture, a 101 kWh battery and two electric motors generating 663 hp. and 838 Nm of torque. With 0-100 km/h in 2.78 seconds and a top speed of 265 km/h, it offers a maximum range of 800 km (497 miles) on the CLTC cycle.

Despite selling each car at a loss, Xiaomi attracted significant attention and demand, receiving 50,000 orders within 27 minutes of opening sales. The launch of the SU7 attracted the interest of CEOs of rival EV companies, highlighting Xiaomi's strategic approach and collaborative efforts within the industry. As part of Xiaomi's "Human x Car x Home" strategy, SU7 seamlessly integrates with the ecosystem of devices and supports popular connectivity features such as Apple CarPlay, offering a comprehensive user experience.
