Isuzu pickups and SUVs will be equipped with new economical engines. The D-Max and MU-X models will get them. Thus, the outdated 1.9-liter four-cylinder diesel turbo engine will be replaced by a 2.2-liter MaxForce turbodiesel with a power of 161 hp. and 400 Nm of torque.
The new unit is paired with an eight-speed Aisin automatic transmission and a 48-volt starter-generator. Isuzu claims that the engine has become quieter, has improved performance and fuel efficiency. The fuel consumption of these cars has decreased by 10%.
The Isuzu D-Max pickup and MU-X SUV will also be available with the familiar 1.9-liter engine with 150 hp, as well as a three-liter engine with 190 hp. Both versions are paired with a six-speed "mechanics" or with an automatic transmission.
The models with the new engines will go on sale next month, but initially they will only be available for the Thai market. Subsequently, however, the company is considering the launch of new diesels in other markets as well.
