Norwegian authorities will allocate 500 million. crowns (45.3 million USD) to support Ukrainian industry, a statement on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom states.
„These funds will be directed to Ukraine's defense industry to speed up the production of weapons and military equipment,” the Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gramm was quoted as saying in the statement. According to him, military aid from Western countries is “insufficient”, therefore “Ukraine's potential must be increased” to manufacture our own weapons.
The minister added that the specific purposes for which the allocated funds will be used will be determined in accordance with the “needs of Ukraine”.
Earlier, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gare Støre announced that Norway intends to extend its support program to Ukraine until 2030, with annual aid amounting to NOK 15 billion (USD 1.43 billion. As of Feb. 2022, the kingdom has provided aid to Kyiv in the amount of more than 3 billion USD.
