Pavela Mitova: The price of oil will rise. The contradictory messages of the institutions create tension - 1

Bulgaria should not interfere in the conflict around Iran and should carefully assess the risks for the country. This was stated in the program “Speak Now“ on BNT by the MP from "There is such a people" Pavela Mitova.

According to her, there is currently no common European position on the topic, and the EU countries express different opinions about the actions of the United States of America and Israel.

She emphasized that the conflict could create risks for Bulgaria in several directions – security, energy and migration pressure.

"From Bulgaria's point of view, we should in no way get involved in this conflict", the MP also said.

According to her, the contradictory messages of the institutions and the lack of coordination between the caretaker government, parliament and presidency create tension and uncertainty among society. Pavela Mitova said that Prime Minister Gyurov's statement about fuel prices in our country is either a blatant lie or simply incompetence.

In the energy sector, Mitova warned that a possible escalation of the conflict could lead to serious economic consequences.

"Either it is about incompetence or it is about a direct lie to Bulgarian citizens in order to calm the tension in society. I am not one of those people who think that we should hide the truth from society, no matter how harsh it may be. The price of oil will rise because Venezuela is already out. We have the Strait of Hormuz, which is closed, 16 million barrels of crude oil pass through there per day. Naturally, the supply of crude oil will be affected for "Lukoil", oil prices will rise. By the way, gas prices will also rise, because we have the closure of one of the main producers and exporters of LNG, and that is Qatar."

What is happening will have an impact on fuels, agricultural production and electricity prices, Mitova is categorical.

According to her, Bulgaria must also be prepared for a possible new migration wave, since the country is an external border of the European Union.
