The shooting of a policeman at the boys in Pleven is an outrage. The case will not be dismissed. The law enforcement officer has already been removed from office. The ministry itself has also initiated an investigation into the activities of the directorate in Pleven.
This was categorically announced by Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov. He revealed that he had spoken with the parents of the injured young man.
"This is an extremely unprofessional and incompetent reaction. The law clearly states when you can shoot," Stoyanov said.
"Everything that the boys claimed, as well as the officers who were there, is being clarified. An internal investigation started yesterday, the colleague has been suspended temporarily while the investigation is carried out. The ministry itself has also launched an investigation into the activities of the directorate," the minister assured.
"I told the father of the injured boy that we do not tolerate this behavior of the police officers in any way. I assured him that everyone will bear their responsibility, including criminal responsibility for those for whom sufficient evidence is collected," the interior minister also commented.
The policeman, who shot at a car with young people in Pleven, will be brought in as a defendant, the prosecutor's office in Pleven announced at a briefing. The law enforcement officer was not detained at the discretion of the investigators in view of the fact that he turned himself in and that he is not in danger of absconding or committing another crime.
Both the boys and the officer who fired the shot tested negative for alcohol and drugs. The weapon was handed over voluntarily by the policeman.
Two shell casings were recovered from the scene.
The 22-year-old was injured last evening. His car did not stop on the instructions of the policeman, but he did not identify himself and it was not clear whether he was a bandit, say the friends of the shot man.
