„ Everything that has been written in recent days regarding the BSP does not contain even the slightest truth.“
This was stated by i.f. Chairman of the BSP Atanas Zafirov during a press conference.
He specified that internally there is an intense process of consolidation and mobilization of the party around the set course of reconciliation and consolidation of all ideological currents in the BSP and in the left political space.
„The basis for this is provided by the meetings held with the regional leaders, with a large part of the municipal leaders, as well as the meetings we hold in places and the declarations of support that come from the country. As well as the homogeneous and unified behavior of our parliamentary group," Zafirov stressed.
According to him, the decisions of the BSP National Council are being implemented and the party is currently running a reporting-election cycle, which will end with the Congress in November.
„The preparation for our traditional Buzludzha assembly on July 27 is also underway and we expect this to be the strongest Buzludzha for the last 10 years, based on the preliminary requests for participation from our structures”, Atanas Zafirov pointed out.< /p>
He also said that the dialogue with the parties and movements in the left political space has started and a series of meetings have already been held.
„Several important events are about to take place, the closest of which are on July 12. The first is a very serious and hopefully fruitful round table with a wide participation of experts and people connected to the left political space, including the parties on the left. The theme is “Revolution of the Left – the road before Bulgaria” and is supported by the “Friedrich Ebert” Foundation. On the same day, we will also hold a big meeting related to the anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution”, announced the I.F. party chairman.
Zafirov expressed hope that the meetings of the BSP with the left parties will become regular, and on the eve of Buzludzha, a memorandum of cooperation will be signed.
„The basis for our optimism is given by the inspiring example of the results of our colleagues in Great Britain and France. Today I sent a congratulatory address to the President of the French Socialist Party, in which I expressed our admiration for the way in which, in very quick order, the left managed to organize, mobilize, consolidate, set high goals and fulfill them by winning the parliamentary elections . We believe that this model can be successfully implemented in Bulgaria as well, Atanas Zafirov said.
„We believe that it is not normal for the parliament to meet only to hold hearings of ministers. Therefore, this week we will submit two proposals for solutions, said the chairman of the PG of the BSP for Bulgaria. Borislav Gutsanov.
In his words, the first is to stop the sale of the equipment of the “Belene” NPP. of Ukraine. “You can see that we have a huge problem with the VI unit of the Kozloduy NPP. It is not normal to have almost the same steam generators in Belene and instead of the VI unit working normally, to sell them to Ukraine. We believe that it should be reviewed and considered whether the Belene project and the VII and VIII units at the Kozloduy NPP cannot be launched, Gutsanov pointed out.
The second proposal of the socialists is related to the funds from the Recovery and Sustainability Plan. “Bulgaria had to absorb a little over 11 billion euros under it. So far, only the first installment of 1.3 billion euros has been absorbed, which happened during the official cabinet more than a year and a half ago. We believe that the National Assembly should intervene and do everything possible to absorb as much of these funds as possible, Gutsanov explained.
According to him, the two decisions are key for the National Assembly to show that it can carry out activities for the benefit of the country and every single household.
The chairman of the Youth Union in the BSP, Gabriel Valkov, strongly condemned the way in which Zlatomir Devlenski, who is also part of the youth organization of the socialists, was arrested by DANS.
„This is not the way a person should be arrested in the 21st century, especially a young person in Bulgaria, in the style of the ostentatious arrests of Tsvetan Tsvetanov, which I thought were a thing of the past. We live in a democratic world and such actions are unacceptable, he said.
Valkov recalled that Bulgaria was condemned more than once in Strasbourg for such actions and called on them to stop.
„If there really is any activity that was against the state, there is a way to summon and arrest a person. Moreover, if it is really about Russophilism, according to data, there are over 3 million Russophiles in Bulgaria. Any person in Bulgaria should be approached very carefully. And until the competent authorities make a decision, let's not approach in this forceful manner that we witnessed, added Borislav Gutsanov.
