„Today, the teaching profession is already attractive. This year, at our suggestion, academic teachers' remunerations were increased and they will receive them at the end of September. If we want to have high-level education, we need to attract the best students to the teaching profession and the most successful students – to the academic. However, this is not enough“ – said Krasimir Valchev, who is second in the list of candidates for people's representatives from GERB – SDS in Starozagorski district, during a pre-election meeting.
He added that a number of changes should be made to the system in dialogue with the professional communities because this is the responsible policy. The transition from learning to functionality of knowledge is mandatory. International tests show that our students do very well when knowledge is measured, but not so well when skills are tested.
„In this regard, we are obliged to provide free time to both teachers and students for the formation of skills, consolidation of knowledge and exercises. This will happen with a change in curricula and assessment methods. We will continue with the key policies we have been pursuing. Teachers' salaries will be at least 125% of the national average, university professors' salaries will increase and every child will be included effectively in the education system” – Krasimir Valchev also said.
The candidate for national representative stated that education remains a leading priority for GERB - SDS, because it is a major factor for economic development and a way to overcome the “middle income trap”. For this purpose, it will rely on technologies and industries. The education system will be modernized. Children will prepare for the age of artificial intelligence – of effective interaction between algorithms and humans, which implies even more skills in the field of digital creativity, but also a solid humanitarian foundation. A transition will also be made to personalized education, which means that each student will have a so-called “digital backpack”, on which he will receive personal lessons created by teachers.
„Everything achieved during the management of GERB is due to the responsibility of the ministers and above all thanks to the fact that we had a prime minister who knows what he is doing. This is the kind of governance we need. The only recipe for forming a responsible government is with the leading role of GERB“ – Krasimir Valchev said in conclusion.
