The escalation of the conflict in the Middle East has the potential to threaten peace in the entire region. This was stated by President Rumen Radev to journalists in Burgas, quoted by BNT.

"I also called from the UN rostrum for restraint, for reason, and it is time for the spiral of violence and suffering in the Middle East to stop. This requires efforts not only from the countries involved, but also consistently from the entire international community," said the head of state.

He congratulated the Bulgarian services that are working to ensure a safe corridor for the evacuation of Bulgarian citizens from Lebanon. He confirmed that work is being done at all levels to release the Bulgarian sailors from "Galaxy Leader".

"I want to congratulate the crew of the government aircraft, the security services who were also able, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Transport, who have been working very hard in recent days, to ensure a safe corridor for our aircraft, so that our countrymen are brought out. This is the most important task at the moment. It's really been working, and since the very first day of the kidnapping of our compatriots from the crew of the "Galaxy Leader".
