GERB-SDS and PP-DB should be the core of the future coalition, but we also need a third partner. This is what he said in the show “120 minutes” Rosen Zhelyazkov from GERB, who was the speaker of the parliament during the failed Denkov-Gabriel rotation in the last regular government.
„We with the PP-DB must form the core of a coalition agreement, but if we do not have enough votes, we must jointly determine who will be the complementary third coalition partner”, explained Zhelyazkov.< /p>
According to him, at the moment “everyone talks to everyone, but not dialogically, but through the media”.
“After the election night, consultations between the political forces were supposed to begin. We had this readiness and declared it. We had to decide where to start the conversation with PP-DB, because they broke off when the Denkov-Gabriel rotation failed to happen, he explained.
However, Rosen Zhelyazkov explained that they received a condition from the PP-DB, which sent everyone in “the situation to discuss whether it is possible for the 51st National Assembly to start work”.
„If we do not elect a president tomorrow, the parliament cannot start work. We had such a situation in the 48th National Assembly, when we were unable to start work for more than a week. Now it is shaping up that we will again become people who will go to work every day, but will not be able to do anything”, he also said.
The former Speaker of the Parliament stated that GERB will not sign the request of PP-DB for a sanitary cordon around Delyan Peevski, because it is a document leading to segregation. However, the party is ready to sign a coalition agreement based on the principle of common views on governance.
„The opinion of the party of the party is to support Raya Nazaryan for the Speaker of the Parliament – she did well both as a speaker and as a representative of this institution”, he said and added that GERB will hold on to its candidate.
The only exception that can be made is to reach an agreement for Boyko Borisov to be prime minister – then any other candidate can be the speaker of the parliament, he also commented.
