Only 17% of pensioners work - this is according to data from the National Statistical Institute, which publishes data on retirement and labor market participation as part of the labor force monitoring for 2023.
They announced when the payment of Christmas supplements to the poorest pensioners will begin
The study is co-financed by the European Commission, and covers people aged 50 to 74.
The data shows that people receiving a pension from 50 to 74 years of age are 905,500 people. Just over 79% have stopped working after retirement. Only 16.7% continued to work, and 4.2% did not work at the time of their retirement.

The reasons for work activity were also studied.
Nearly 63 percent of those who continued to work after retirement did so for financial reasons. Nearly one-third enjoyed working, being productive or socially engaged.
Nearly 6 percent cited other reasons in their motivation.
