From today, the traffic of motor vehicles over 3.5 tons in the direction of Sofia, in the direction of Mezdra - Roman - Batultsi, reports the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA). The restriction will be in effect until mid-June, the road agency states.
Drivers of heavy trucks traveling in the direction of Montana will be able to use this route during the winter season and under favorable weather conditions as a bypass route during the modernization of road I-1 in the Mezdra - Botevgrad section. In the event of rain, snow and low temperatures, their traffic in the direction of Montana will be temporarily restricted, RIA specifies.
There are two bypass routes that can be used by heavy truck drivers: coming from Montana Krapchene – Krivodol - Borovan - Byala Slatina - Knezha - Dolni Dabnik - Telish - Radomirtsi - Lukovit - Zlatna Panega - AM "Hemus" and coming from Vratsa - Borovan - Byala Slatina - Knezha - Dolni Dabnik - Telish - Radomirtsi - Lukovit - Zlatna Panega - AM "Hemus"
API specifies that a possible detour route in the direction of Sofia, after the end of the winter season and at the discretion of the responsible institutions, is the "Petrohan" pass in a certain time range. For vehicles up to 3.5 tons, the bypass remains Vratsa - Pavolche - Chelopek - Lyutibrod - Eliseina - Svoge - Sofia Ring Road and vice versa, the RIA reminds.
BTA recalls that the mayor of Mezdra Ivan Asparuhov said in October last year that the Moravitsa - Mezdra section, which is used as a bypass while the two-lane road to Botevgrad is being built, is extremely busy. According to him, at least 2,000 trucks and a total of about 10,000 vehicles pass through it per day.
