„I am optimistic that Bulgaria can enter the eurozone on January 1, 2026. However, there are question marks in the budget and the Ministry of Finance must guarantee that it will be implemented”. This was said by former Deputy Minister of Finance Lyubomir Datsov to NOVA.
„When unions protest, it is good news because there are different understandings. They are professionals who make their living from expressing one opinion or another or at least pretending to protect the rights of a certain category of people”, he pointed out.
„There is a record increase in income in this budget. The unions are not protesting the obviously unfair increase in salaries of the military and police, which eats up absolutely the entire increase. When you have an almost 30% increase in the wage fund and claim that the money is not enough with 3% inflation this year, there is something wrong. When you are silent about some actions that extract all the resources, and at the same time protest about some 250 million leva - then something is wrong in the entire system”, commented Datsov.
„On the one hand, we have macroeconomic budget policy on the brink, and on the other - a conversation about efficiency. It should be fundamental”, believes Datsov.
„The difference with European budgets is that in most countries they can guarantee much higher efficiency in spending money. If Bulgaria wants to do something, it should develop in this direction”, added the former minister.
