A report from Deadline has revealed that they may be reuniting on screen 17 years after the release of their last film.
The website reported that Pitt and Clooney are currently trying to get Edward Berger signed on to direct the film.
Although the project is in the early stages and nothing has been confirmed yet, Deadline suggests that other stars of the franchise, including Matt Damon, Julia Roberts and Casey Affleck, may also join Pitt and Clooney.
Almost a year ago, Clooney announced future plans for the series, sharing a script for an upcoming film in development.
Clooney and Pitt are now rumored to be trying to woo Berger to direct Ocean's 4.
Berger is a rising star. He directed the 2022 war film Nothing New on the Western Front, which won four Oscars.
Warner Bros and Smokehouse are reportedly hard at work on a sequel to the franchise, which will be the first film without director Steven Soderbergh.
In December 2023, Clooney told Uproxx that the new film has a strong script.
He hinted that it might not be an exact sequel to the previous films in the series and compared the script to the film “Leaving the Game in Style” since 1979
“We have a very good script for a new 'Ocean's Gang' movie, so we might do another one. Actually, it's a great script”, explained the actor.
Clooney also responded to rumors that Barbie stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling have been cast in the film's prequel and will play the parents of his character Danny Ocean.
“Margot Robbie is my mother? I've always thought so. And Ryan Gosling is my father, and when you think about it, it makes sense. Indeed“, he pointed out.
The last film in the series “Ocean's Outlaws“ was released in 2018, and Sandra Bullock took on the role of Clooney's character's sister.
