Finland – Norway, Belgium - Czech Republic and Georgia – Croatia are in the playoffs for a place at the European Under-21 Championship, it was clear from the UEFA draw.
After playing all the matches of the preliminary groups, three of the second teams took direct quotas, and the remaining six teams were divided into three pairs.
The matches will be on alternate visits. The first-placed teams will host the first games on November 14th. The return matches will be played on November 19. Thus, the last three participants of the European finals in Slovakia, which will be held from June 12 to 29 next year, will become clear.
The Bulgarian national under-21 team finished in 3rd place in Group D with 15 points. Poland, who finished ahead of the "lion cubs", qualified as one of the three best runners-up teams along with group winners Germany. In their last match of the group, coach Alexander Dimitrov's team defeated Israel 1:0 at the stadium in the Hungarian city of Gyor. The winning goal for Bulgaria was scored by Nikola Iliev in the 1st minute of the second half.
