Specialists from the National Tsinghua University presented a quantum computer that is positioned as the smallest in the industry . The operation of the device, comparable in size to an ordinary computer, was demonstrated by its creators at a press conference at Hsinchu University.
It is noted that the computer uses only one photon when working with quantum algorithms. According to scientists, the system can perform, for example, simple factorization using the three-stage approach of Shor's algorithm, and is also able to encode information in 32 time slots.
Furthermore, the computer is capable of maintaining photons in stable quantum states at room temperature. It does not require a special cooling system, which allows significant energy savings.
Scientists note the importance of this computer in various fields, such as drug development, logistics optimization, improving data security, and improving artificial intelligence. The developers do not say when and in which markets the commercial version of the unusual computer will appear.
