Drivers Turn Their Own Cars into Christmas Trees, but Police Are Against It - 1

The trend of drivers decorating their cars with Christmas lights is gaining popularity in America. Police officers in many states are urging them not to do this because, according to the law, blue and red lights should not be on civilian cars.

Cowboy State Daily reports that there are many drivers who have already been fined for this violation. Wyoming State Police issued a warning to drivers on their own social media.

The officers cited the law, saying that "no private person shall operate a vehicle with a lamp or device capable of displaying a red or blue light."

In addition, the police noted that there is also a safety issue, as the bright lights attract the attention of other drivers. Trooper Jason Simmer explains that this increases the reaction time of other drivers, which could potentially cause an accident.

In addition, the bright lights make it difficult for others to determine the start of the stop. The fine for this violation is reportedly $100. In addition to Wyoming, similar rules apply in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
