Half a million euros for employees who voluntarily leave Mercedes - 1

Mercedes-Benz is offering employees to leave their jobs for 500,000 euros. The company is contractually obligated to pay the compensation for voluntary departure. This should help it implement its redundancy plan and achieve its savings target. However, not all employees can count on this "golden parachute", the German newspaper Handelsblatt specifies.

The amount of the compensation offered depends on both the length of service and the position held. For example, a 55-year-old team leader with a monthly salary of 9,000 euros who has worked at Mercedes-Benz for 30 years will be able to count on a maximum of 500,000 euros. At the same time, a 45-year-old administrator with 20 years of experience and a salary of 7,500 euros will be offered no more than 300,000 euros, and a 30-year-old employee with a salary of 6,000 euros will be paid 100,000 euros.

However, there are no plans for forced layoffs in Europe. Employees are protected by job security until the end of 2034, so Mercedes-Benz can only entice them to leave voluntarily with generous financial incentives. If they refuse, the company will not force them to resign.

Mercedes-Benz employs approximately 30,000 people who are not directly involved in production. It is reported that employees will soon receive specific compensation offers and will have to respond by July 31 this year.

Earlier, Mercedes-Benz noted that the company had embarked on the path of “significant savings“, including on fixed costs, and this is already bearing fruit. The car giant is forced to reduce its costs by the difficult economic situation and the decline in sales in China, which has been a source of stable profits for many years.
