The new development, the "Shenxing Pro" battery, is the world's first lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell with "NP 3.0" technology. According to the manufacturer, this battery provides power for more than an hour even when overheating. This is particularly important for the safety of autonomous driving systems. The "No Propagation" technology is the result of seven years of research and eliminates the spread of fire inside the battery module.
Two versions for different needs
"Shenxing Pro" is available in two versions aimed at different market needs:
Mileage and endurance version: This version was created for European leasing companies. It offers a range of up to 758 km (WLTP cycle) and a life of 12 years or 1 million km. The battery degradation after the first 200 thousand km is only 9%.
Quick charge version: It allows charging in 10 minutes, which provides a range of 478 km. Even at -20°C, a 20-minute charge achieves a range of 410 km.
CATL engineers have used innovative "Wave" cells, which have increased the rigidity of the battery pack by 25%. The packaging efficiency of 76% is a significant breakthrough that overcomes the traditional limitations of "Cell-to-Body" technology.
"In Europe, for Europe": CATL's new strategy
CATL is no longer just exporting batteries to Europe, but is changing its approach to "in Europe, for Europe". The company's investments on the continent now exceed 11 billion euros. Partnerships have been established with over a thousand suppliers and universities, creating thousands of jobs.
With the increasing percentage of electric vehicles in Europe, CATL aims to become a key element of a sustainable transportation ecosystem. This will include the production of materials, batteries, their reuse and recycling.
