The Israeli army wants to mobilize reservists for the air defense forces, BTA reported.
"After assessing the situation, it was decided to increase the number of military personnel and call up reservists for the air defense force,", the Israeli army said, without giving specific reasons for the measure taken.
Israeli media reported that the decision was made because of threats from Tehran. After an alleged Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus, which killed several people, Iran yesterday reiterated its intention to retaliate.
The attack "will not go unanswered,", warned Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
Two generals and five members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard were killed in Monday's attack. According to Iran's Tasnim news agency, six Syrian citizens were also killed.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards (Iran's elite armed forces) are considered more influential than Iran's conventional army, DPA noted.
Iran's Foreign Ministry blamed Israel for the attack. The US government also believes that Israel carried out the attack, but it has not commented on the case.
