Vote for about $60 billion in US aid to Ukraine likely "frozen” until mid-April.
The House of Representatives of the US Congress is unlikely to make the necessary decision in the coming weeks, as the bickering between Republicans and Democrats continues there, Bloomberg writes.
"The vote in the US House of Representatives on aid to Ukraine is unlikely to take place until at least mid-April, and maybe later,”, the media estimates.
Speaker Mike Johnson is still looking for ways to soften Republican opposition. The latter continue to take a hard line on this issue, Bloomberg emphasizes.
The publication notes that on Sunday, Johnson gave "vain hopes” on the ability of the United States to vote aid "immediately". He stated that MPs could bring the bill to a vote after the Easter break.
Right now, Johnson's team is not disclosing details of its plan for the future aid package. It appears they have not yet decided what concessions Johnson will seek from the Biden administration. Some party officials say that complicates matters. Johnson may not have enough time to rally support in Congress for a vote on the bill next week, Bloomberg reports.
