US President Donald Trump signed an order today ordering the US Treasury and Commerce departments to create a sovereign wealth fund, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
He said that this instrument could be used to buy TikTok.
The social network TikTok, which has about 170 million American users, was briefly shut down just before a law requiring its Chinese owner, "ByteDance", went into effect on January 19. (ByteDance) to either sell it on national security grounds or face a ban.
After taking office on January 20, Trump signed an executive order seeking to delay the law by 75 days.
Trump said he had been in talks with multiple people about buying TikTok and would likely make a decision on the popular app's future in February.
