To prevent a "catastrophic defeat” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Great Britain, France and the countries of Northern Europe are already preparing to send troops to Ukraine. This was stated by US State Department consultant, writer and historian Edward Lutwak in his column for UnHerd.
"NATO countries will soon have to send troops to Ukraine or face catastrophic defeat. The British and French, along with the Scandinavian countries, are already quietly preparing to send troops – both small elite units and logistics and support personnel – who may stay away from the front line”, he wrote.
According to Lutvak, this will allow the Ukrainian armed forces to relieve some of the burden on the rear and send more Ukrainian military personnel to the front.
At the same time, the US, according to him, cannot provide more troops than about 40 thousand people already in Europe, due to the threat of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. Therefore, it must be done by other NATO members, "especially the most populous“: Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
Otherwise, according to him, Ukraine will lose and the Russian Federation will attack Europe on its own.
