Authorities in Moldova's pro-Russian separatist region of Transnistria said a drone carrying explosives struck a radar station at a military base in separatist territory without causing casualties or significant damage. This happens three weeks after another similar incident in Transnistria, reported France Presse, quoted by BTA.
"Today, at 2:35 p.m., a kamikaze drone attacked a military base of the Ministry of Defense of the Transnistrian Republic of Moldova in the region of Rybnitsa, six kilometers from the border with Ukraine," the Ministry of State Security said in a statement of the self-proclaimed republic.
"The target was a radar station which sustained minor damage with no casualties. A team of investigators is working on the ground,", the same source added, without explicitly accusing Ukraine of carrying out the strike.
On March 17, authorities in the Transnistrian region said an explosives-laden drone sent by Ukraine struck a military base in its capital Tiraspol, allegations denied by Moldova, which condemned the attempt to sow "panic".
p>For its part, Kiev then accused Moscow of being behind a "provocation in Transnistria with a kamikaze drone attack".
Since the 1990s, Russia has supported this separatist territory in Moldova. Moscow regularly accuses Kiev and Chisinau of preparing provocations or attacks there, AFP points out.
