Deputy from the far-right "Alternative for Germany" stated that he did not commit violations after information emerged that he received money from a pro-Russian media platform, the party said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA writes.

Peter Bistron, Member of the German Parliament and candidate of the "Alternative for Germany" for the European Parliament elections, "categorically rejected" the allegations, a spokesman for the AzG.

told Reuters

"The party leadership has launched an investigation and is therefore calling on anyone who claims to have evidence to join the investigation," the spokesman said. "At this point, the leadership (of the party) must consider Bistron innocent," he added.

The German magazine "Spiegel" and the Czech newspaper "Denik En" reported that Bistron received money from the "Voice of Europe" portal. Late last month, the Czech government sanctioned the platform's administrators over suspicions of Russian influence.

AfD, which has 78 of the 735 seats in Germany's parliament, leads the polls in several poorer, post-industrial eastern states, where its stance against migrants and the established leadership is gaining support. She opposes Germany's support for Ukraine in the war.
