European officials believe that after assassination attempt Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, who has opposed military aid to Kiev and the country's NATO membership, may be "turned angry” and begin to increasingly undermine the work of the Alliance, reports the British newspaper Financial Times, citing sources.
Brussels fears that Fico will become a "more destructive force within NATO, like Orban, who delayed the entry of Finland and Sweden”, the editors emphasize.
The publication recalls that even before the assassination, Fico, together with Orban, opposed the candidacy of the current Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, for the position of Secretary General of NATO.
