The Czech Republic will seek additional funds for its initiative to provide ammunition to Ukraine from all world, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky said today, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
He added that NATO needs to send a clear message to Russia.
Earlier this week, the Czech Republic said more than 1.6 billion euros in funding had been secured for the initiative, which could cover the cost of half a million missiles this year for Russia-attacked Ukraine.
Lipavski hosted other NATO foreign ministers in Prague today for informal talks during which they will discuss ways to put military aid to Ukraine on a more solid long-term footing and hammer out details ahead of the alliance's summit in July .
„I fully agree with (NATO Secretary General Jens) Stoltenberg's call for sustainability and our initiative definitely fits into that,” said the Czech foreign minister. He stated that NATO needs a unified strategy in its support for Ukraine, not ad hoc solutions.
„We need to send a clear message to (Russian President Vladimir) Putin that his imperialist calculations will not work,” he said.
