Kremlin on the Joe Biden-Donald Trump debate: No comment! - 1

Russia had no comment on the US presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by "Reuters".

He pointed out that this is an internal matter for the United States.

President Vladimir Putin did not get up in the middle of the night to watch the US presidential debate, Peskov noted.

In his words, Russia has more important things to focus on.

"You hardly expect the president of Russia to wind an alarm clock, get up before dawn and watch the debates in the United States of America," he pointed out in response to a question about whether the Russian leader followed the debate.

"We have many issues that are really important for our country. These are the issues our president is dealing with. The debates in the United States are not part of the main issues on the agenda," Peskov stressed.

Biden often struggled to get his thoughts together during the debate with Trump, reviving the discussion about his age.

Russia played a big role in the debate as both tried to show who was tougher on foreign policy.

Trump said that if the US had a "real president" who was respected by Putin, the Russian leader would never have invaded Ukraine.

Biden shot back: "Go ahead, let Putin come in and control Ukraine, and then move on to Poland and other places. See what happens then. He has no idea what the hell he's talking about".

Earlier this month, Putin said he did not believe the election result would make much of a difference to Russia.
