Young people's votes could be decisive in the second round of the parliamentary elections elections in France, said today the German politician and expert on the neighboring country Franziska Brantner, quoted by BTA.

Many of them are disillusioned with President Emmanuel Macron, Brantner, who is a member of the lower house of the German parliament, the Bundestag, and also a deputy member of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly, said in an interview with public radio Deutschlandfunk.

According to her, everything depends on whether the young people who voted in favor of the left alliance in the first round on Sunday are now ready to support a candidate from Macron's list.

"Whether the mobilization will work here, I think is one of the big questions for next Sunday," she noted.

After the first round of early parliamentary elections, the far-right nationalist "National Assembly" of Marine Le Pen and his allies lead with between 33% and 34.2% of the vote.

President Macron's centrist bloc is in third place with between 20.7% and 22% after the left-wing alliance "New Popular Front" (NNP) with 28.1-29.1%.

However, how many seats the blocs will receive in the National Assembly will only be decided in the second round of elections next Sunday.

Both the Left Alliance and Macron's Bloc have said they will withdraw from constituencies where they came third in favor of candidates who can defeat the "National Assembly".

On Sunday evening, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal issued a sharp warning: "The extreme right is at the gates of power... Our goal is clear: to prevent the election of a "National Assembly" in the second round."
