We must stop hiding our heads in the sand. Ukraine must prepare for a 10-year war with Russia. This was stated by the Ukrainian director and screenwriter Oleg Sentsov to krymr.com.
„At first there was talk of two weeks, two months, then two years. We must prepare for a 10-year war. If we are ready for war for 10 years and it ends earlier, then we have won and we have done everything right," said Sentsov, who after the Russian invasion joined the ranks of the Ukrainian army and was wounded several times.
According to Sentsov, the country should understand that the war against Russia is complex, serious and will last a long time, so everyone should get involved.
„For all men to serve, we need to demobilize, rotate, put the state on a fighting footing and invest money in defense and some manufacturing, not making new asphalt or stadiums. All this can wait”, shared the director.
„If we constantly live that it (the war) will be over by the end of the year, we will never plan for the long term. We will constantly live in today, which may not end in anything good for us”, said Sentsov.
In the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Sentsov entered the territorial defense of Kiev, then fought in the hottest areas in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. The Ukrainian director said that he is fighting for the “return of the Ukrainian flag to Crimea”. At the front, Sentsov was already wounded three times.
