The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to step up deportations and reduce illegal migration during a visit to Solingen, where a man stabbed three people to death last week, Reuters reported.
He described the attack as "terrorism". The attack, which investigators believe was carried out by an Islamic State member, fueled political tensions over asylum and deportation rules.
Scholz has indicated that he will do everything possible to ensure that those who cannot and do not have the right to remain in Germany are deported.
The authorities had planned to deport the perpetrator of the attack in Solingen to Bulgaria in 2023. However, the 26-year-old Syrian was not at the refugee center when the authorities tried to carry out the measure.
