A 54-year-old man from the Sardinian town of Saroc has been charged by authorities with aggravated fraud and concealment of a body after allegedly keeping his dead mother's body in a freezer for years , to collect her pension, the Italian news agency ANSA reported, as quoted by BTA.
The carabinieri searched the home and found the body of the 78-year-old woman in a freezer on the ground floor of the building, according to investigation sources.
According to the initial investigation, the body had been in the freezer for approximately two years.
The woman is believed to have died of natural causes and her son hid the body to continue collecting her pension, the sources said.
