All of Germany today affected by problems and crashes when paying with bank cards. This was announced by the German authorities, quoted by DPA, writes BTA.
As of early this morning, both credit and debit card payments were affected. However, the ATMs appear to be working normally, the agency said.
Interruptions in card payments are due to technical problems that are related to the activity of the company "First Date". (First Data). It is a provider of information and communication services for the financial sector. "First Date" is owned by the American group "Pfizer" (Fiserv).
The company said it is "working hard" to resolve the issue with card payments.
The German Cyber Security Agency (BSI) announced that it was "aware of disruptions to card payment operations at various financial institutions". She announced that she maintains "contact with the affected persons and relevant authorities".
So far, there is no evidence that the problems with card payments were caused by a cyberattack, representatives of banking circles in Germany announced.
