Benjamin Netanyahu: The UN does not care about us, strikes against Hezbollah continue - 1

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed today to strike targets of the Lebanese Shia movement "Hezbollah" in the neighboring country to continue, reported France Press, quoted by BTA.

He did this despite another UN call for a ceasefire in both Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

"Let me be clear: we will continue to strike mercilessly against "Hezbollah" in all parts of Lebanon, including (the capital) Beirut," the Israeli prime minister said during a visit to the military base in the country hit yesterday by a drone sent by the Lebanese movement. Four Israeli soldiers were killed in the deadliest attack in Israel since the conflict escalated late last month.

UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi meanwhile stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire in both Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

"A ceasefire backed by a real peace process (...) is the only way to break the cycle of violence, hatred and misery," Grandi said at the opening of the annual summit of the service he heads today in Geneva. He warned of the danger of a wider regional conflict with global consequences.

And today dozens of people were killed in Lebanon in new Israeli attacks. At least 21 people died in an airstrike on a residential building in the northern part of the country.
