Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, spokesman for the Israeli army, announced yesterday that the leader of Hamas Yahya Sinwar was killed in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.
„Yesterday in Tell Sultan in Rafah, Yahya Sinuar was eliminated by army fighters,” the rear admiral said in a televised statement. He informed that “the army and the Shabak (internal intelligence of the Jewish state) had been operating for months to provide intelligence to eliminate Yahya Sinwar, the leader of “Hamas” – the terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip, and one of the founders of the military wing of “Hamas”, which planned and carried out the massacre on October 7”.
The Israeli army released a short video shot by a drone showing a wounded man identified as Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar just before he was killed in a military operation in Gaza, AFP reported.
The man is sitting in an armchair in a gutted living room on the first floor of a partially destroyed building. His face is hidden by cloth, which may be a kufiya, and in his hand he holds a sword-like object, which he throws at the drone.
According to the army, the man filmed is Yahya Sinuwar in the last moments before his elimination.
The remains of the leader of “Hamas” Yahya Sinuar were transported late last night to the morgue in Tel Aviv for "further examination", the Israeli police said.
