Turkey, along with 53 other countries, has sent a letter to the UN Security Council requesting immediate action to stop the flow of weapons and ammunition to Israel, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced today, quoted by Anadolu Agency. quoted by BTA.
The letter, drawn up on the initiative of Turkey, was signed by 52 countries and 2 international organizations.
„We must repeat at every opportunity that selling arms to Israel is tantamount to complicity in genocide,” Fidan said at a press conference in Djibouti, where he participated in the third ministerial conference to review the Turkey-Africa partnership.
The Turkish foreign minister said the Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu has become a “global threat” and called on all countries to prevent Israel from ignoring international law.
Fidan also said that the current global system does not provide a solution. “This system that reproduces historical injustices” must change, the Turkish foreign minister said, adding that “this inevitable transformation will take place under the leadership of African countries that the current international system ignores”.
