The death toll in Gaza Strip from today's Israeli airstrikes has risen to 16 people, including women and children, Palestinian health officials were quoted by the Associated Press as saying. Earlier it was reported about 14 victims, specifies BTA.
One strike hit a school in the city of Gaza, and the other hit a tent camp for people who fled from other areas of the enclave in the city of Khan Younis, informed the civil defense in the Palestinian enclave, quoted by France Press.
The strike on the school killed at least six people, including two local journalists, a pregnant woman and a child. The Israeli army said its target was a fighter from the Palestinian group "Islamic Jihad", but did not provide evidence or details, the AP specified.
Seven people died in the attack on the tent camp. According to the “Nasser“ among the dead are two women and a child. The Israeli military did not immediately respond to AP's request for comment.
Palestinian medical officials said an Israeli strike hit tents in the courtyard of the main hospital in central Gaza, including one that serves as a police station. At least three people died and a local journalist was injured.
The Israeli army also informed that 11 trucks with humanitarian aid have arrived in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
