German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will not table a confidence vote in parliament on Wednesday, a government spokesman confirmed, as political wrangling continues in Berlin, reports DPA, BTA reported.
"I can assure you that the chancellor will not table a vote of confidence on Wednesday," spokesman Steffen Hebestreit told reporters.
After the collapse of his three-party coalition last week, Scholz is due to make a statement to the Bundestag (the lower house of the German parliament) on Wednesday.
Scholz is under enormous political pressure from the opposition parties to call an immediate vote of confidence, which will likely lead to new elections, DPA notes.
