An Israeli airstrike hit a densely populated residential area in Lebanon's capital, Beirut, near the UN headquarters, the parliament, the prime minister's office and several embassies, the Associated Press reported, as quoted by BTA.
Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that two rockets hit the area of the “Zokak al Blat” in Beirut. The strike followed media reports that the US envoy had postponed his visit for ceasefire talks.
Ambulance sirens were heard in the area, but there is currently no official information on the number of victims. An AP reporter at the scene reported that multiple victims were seen in the street. The specific target of the airstrike is still unclear. The Israeli army did not give advance warning.
