Russia selects targets in Ukraine, which may include “decision centers” in Kiev in response to the Ukrainian strikes with long-range Western weapons on Russian territory, Russian President Vladimir Putin said today, quoted by Reuters, writes BTA.
Russia has so far not struck government buildings in the Ukrainian capital. Kiev is a heavily defended city by an air defense system, but Putin says the Russian Oreshnik hypersonic missile, which was fired at the Ukrainian city for the first time last week, is impossible to intercept.
“We will, of course, respond to continued strikes on Russian territory with long-range Western missiles, as already mentioned, including the possible continuation of tests of the “Oreshnik” in combat conditions, as was done on November 21”, Putin said at a meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in the Kazakh capital Astana.
“At the moment, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff are selecting targets for strikes on Ukrainian territory. They may include military facilities, industrial or defense enterprises or decision-making centers in Kiev,”, the Russian leader said.
Russia announced that Ukraine had fired US ATAKMS ballistic missiles at targets in western Russia for the first time on November 19, prompting Moscow to respond two days later with the launch of the Oreshnik missile. against the Ukrainian city of Dnipro (Dnipro in Ukrainian - note ed.)
Since then, Russia has claimed that Ukraine fired more ATAKMS missiles at Russia's Kursk region on November 23 and 25.
Putin said that Russia's production of advanced missile systems exceeds that of NATO countries by 10 times and that Moscow plans to further increase their production.
