A truck carrying live fish crashed in northern Germany, dariknews.bg reported.
Hundreds of trout littered the road, DPA reported, quoted by dariknews.bg, referring to a local police spokesman.
The accident injured 4 people, one of whom seriously, and hundreds of live trout died on the roadway, the spokesman reported.
According to initial data, the 56-year-old driver lost control of the truck on the icy road, stopping across the roadway. Another truck hit him, pushing him over the guardrail separating the two lanes, where he was then hit by another car traveling in the opposite direction.
A passenger in the car was seriously injured in the collision, while the driver of the fish truck and his passenger suffered minor injuries.
The truck was loaded with 7,100 kilograms of live trout, the police spokesman said, adding that it was not yet clear how many of the fish had fallen onto the road or died.
The lanes in both directions were closed and the cleanup is currently ongoing.
Police estimate the material damage at around 200,000 euros.
